Berkshires are a unique and rare heritage breed that originally came from Berkshire County, England. The pig is also bred in Japan under the name Kurobuta, as well as in New Zealand, and in America, under the name American Berkshire, always using pigs with the same genetics.
And it’s this genetics that differentiates Berkshires from regular pork, giving the meat a high fat and incredible marbling. Marbling in meat translated into a superb tenderness and melt-in-your mouth buttery flavor, as well as an incredible juiciness, making Berkshire pork – and Berkshire ham – an unforgettable treat.
This luxurious smoked ham for sale is sourced from Heritage Berkshire, an American company that sources their Berkshire pork from farms in Iowa and Minnesota.
